Weigh in After Vegas

Ok, was nervous about today's weigh in, my eating was not perfect. I was not perfect in Vegas, walked ALOT, but eating was all over the place. After my meeting today, I was to meet up with an old friend from high school, Amy. Very very good to see her. So I was limited on time, so I swung by the gym, just to weigh in. 9 pounds!!!! FEW!!!! Man does that feel good. I was, am, pumped!!!! Going back tonight, get in my cardio for the day, and have my fat content measured again. Its almost been a month since I started body for life, and workouts at 24 hour fitness. When I first had it checked I was in the very unhealthy range, lets see where I end up tonight. I will be back with you soon...Thursday is going to be a hike day with Allen, not sure where we are going, but all are welcome, no matter how new you are!!!! Vegas, not so bad this time...

If anyone is following this, sorry for the absence, it was the dreaded Las Vegas weekend. If you are following anything you would like to add would be great...OK, heres how the weekend went with respects to body for life. Food intake was below average. I didn't eat even close to enough, and when I ate it wasn't always healthy choices. No excuses here, I did it. The worse day food wise I had was on Saturday. My friend Doug and I went to the Rio buffet, Dougs choice....I had 2 plates of food. Stayed away from deep fried stuff, had crab, duck, shrimp, and some bad stuff, but nothing horrible. Here's where I went off, it was the deserts. The cheesecake was the best thing I have ever had. All in all, made about seven trips. One of the new things I have aquired since I have given up alchohal is sweets. Oh well, chalk it up to a cheat day. I did however walk, and did I walk. I have an app on my phone that tracks what I do. One walk was from the Riviera to Freemont. Was 5.5 miles, took over an hour. Another walk was along the strip, my phone ran out of charge so I didn't get exact millage. I am betting around the same 5-6 miles. Was from Maldalay Bay to Harris, but it wasnt a straight shot, lots of exploring in there. I had planned on visiting a 24 hour fitness when I was there to get my scheduled lower body work out, didn't happen, again, no excuse. Say today 4-29 I did both upper and lower body workouts at the gym. Tomorrow back on track with cardio. I am getting higher and higher with the weight of the workouts. Makes me want more. The best part is sets 4 and 5. 4 being the higher weight, doing 6 reps, then with no rest set 5, which is a lower weight 12 reps. This always gets me to a 10. Starting doing my with my abs. The BFL is vague on the ab workouts, was watching someones technique at the gym today with the sit up machine, tried it, worked very well. Got a great burn. Today was a scheduled weigh in, decided to do it tomorrow, didn't make it to the gym till midnight. Want to weigh in around the same time I have been so far. Ok, there was my excuse, not the truth, im nervious about it...There!!! Think I will get my fat % tested tomorrow as well. Its been almost a month, think its time, see where I am at. That should actually tell me more. I am certain I am building musle, so more curios about the fat loss. Will be back with the results tomorrow....

OK, today was a good day. Did my first hike with the "hiking club". It was one of their "PT" hikes. Met up across from Calm, and hiked to the top of handglider hill. Went 4.2 miles, took 1.5 hours. Never had to stop and rest, the Mt Pino's hike I had to stop alot. Probably 2 things, the elevation, and i'm getting in better shape. Really noticing it on the lower body days, weight is going up. Lunges are getting easier. Man lunges, if you ever want a awesome work out, where ever you are, try doing 24 lunges, with out cheating!!! Then try the calve lifts. Do 10 on each step, and try 10 steps...I have to stop at different intervals and walk for a minute it burns so bad (good)...This weekend will be another test. Going to vegas to watch a pool tourney. Hears the plan. Tomorrow is lower body, so one of two things. If the hotel has a gym, gona use that. If not, look for a 24 hour fitness, have a nationwide membership. Saturday is a cardio day, gona walk the strip, take a long walk, and explore. I have always wanted to do that anyway. Beer was always on top of the list, not anymore!!! Mental Obsesion, GONE, still have an ocational craving, use my tools to get past those. The cravings are getting less and less, and shorter, think I will keep doing what I am doing. Seems to be working, just a tiny bit better, than the old me...That was about as sarcastic as you can be!!!! 8>)

Upper body today, had a great workout. Starting to notice some definition in my arms. I don't recall ever seeing that my whole life. Even when I was an athlete. Starting to need to go up in weight. One in particular is my sholders. Need to find a new back and bicep excersise. Seems as I get stronger I need to find new challenges to reach that 10. Food is still a struggle, a struggle to eat enough. I havn't had anything off the plan since the last weigh in. Started drinking more water, and iced tea instead of Diet Pepsi. A friend at the gym recomends green tea, unsweat. I like green tea, think I will give it a shot. I would go nuts drinking water only, i'm thinking green tea is the next best thing. Gona have a challenge this weekend. Going to vegas friday sat sunday. I have my 24 hour app downloaded to find a gym, also think there is a gym at the hotel. For cardio, gona walk the strip. Watch all the drunks fall down, don't miss that life at all...Period!!!! Going to come home, with money in my pocket, feeling good!!! Will try and update tomorrow, then next update will come sunday...

Cardio Stair Climber

Today didn't start off the greatest. Woke up tired, went back to sleep, missed my daily noon meeting. Felt a little out of whack. Got myself up and going around 2. Made my way to Bakersfield College, for the first time since the 90's got myself enrolled in classes. 2 classes this summer, 4 in the fall, then 1 or 2 in the spring and I will have my associates degree. Very excited and nervious at the same time. Went to visit dad at memorial, he seemed to be doing well today. Visited with him for a while, made a stag meeting, went to mexican restraunt. Hard to order healthy at a mexican food place. Subbed the beans and rice for salad, used very little dressing on the salad, salsa is a great substitute for dressing. Had some steak with onions and peppers. The stake came in some sort of gravy, didn't know that when I ordered. Hopefully it wasn't too loaded. Did not do well on my eat every 2 hours deal, this is going to be hard. Even with my phone set telling me when to eat, gona have to be a work in progress. Got 2 meals in all day. One thing I did succeed on is no diet soda, drank lots of water and unsweat iced tea today. OK, so finally get to the gym at 10. Met a guy I used to work with, he didn't even regonize me, not because of the weight loss, because of the look on my face. That felt good, was good to see you Kenny... Cardio today, decided to try the workout on the stair climber. Kicked my butt, was a very good one!!! Let me write this here so I dont forget 3=5 intesity 4=6 5=7 6=8 7=9 8=10...That was perfect where I am at right now....Tomorrow is upper body, looking forward to it... GO WARRIORS...
Getting a real late start today. Seems like one time a week I need a little extra sleep to get caught up. Feel much better after. Going to BC to get prepared to sign up for classes, then to the gym. Cardio day, gona try the stair climber for the first time on this program. Need to get going...

  • Wayne Moore Ok gona use this as my daily blog....Awesome first work out with Brian Parks...This is gona work, just do what the book asks me. The food is good, I feel like I am always eating. All my diets in the past I always feel like im starving. Upper body today, workout supposed to last 46 minutes, we blew through it in 36 minutes, can take a little more time. More weight on the back and chest. Starting weight 336 body fat 30.5...Goal 10 lbs a month for 1 year, lose 10% body fat by the end of the 12 weeks...

  • Wayne Moore Going do a hike day sunday, every sunday possible. Preparing for a back packing trip next year. Goal, world record Golden Trout, sounds crazy, thats my goal.Wendy Ward, Chris Scott, Mike Cauzza, who ever wants to go.   • Wayne Moore Day 2 was good. Cardio day, did the sitting bike. I have sat on the bike at the gym many times before. Today was very different. Its nice to have a set regimend to follow. I looked at the guy to my left, he was peddling away with no real purpose. This program gives you different levels of intensity to reach, each minute it changes. Start slow, up to a 9, back down. up and down, until minute 19 you reach for a 10. Felt like I got more done in 20 minutes than I would have before, aimlessly walking around the gym with no goal. Havn't pushed that hard since my fire fighting days. Wably legged when I stepped off. Was very tired, but a great feeling inside. look forward to keep going....Thanks again Brian Parks...

  • Wayne Moore did not get a chance to update yesterday. did my first lower body. had a good workout. lower body goes quicker than upper. the only thing the system doest work great on is the abs. found a good way to push myself. get to that 10...

  • Wayne Moore crazy day today, thanks for the ride brian. cardio day, tried it on the alyptical. liked it better than the bike. reached my 10 no prob. difference is my butt didnt hurt from the bike. i have been planning on making sundays a hike day, no luck in getting a group started. went to the bill w movie yesterday and met a guy in a hiking group. crazy awesome things have been happening like that to me lately. all the time!!! sometimes is good to set aside ur ego and listen... look forward to saturday alan!!!!

  • Wayne Moore woke up at 3:30, took the dogs for a walk. walked all the way to mom and dads. already feeling a ton better, and its only day 5. I can only imagine what day 80 is going to feel like. Can't wait to start with they new hiking group. I filled out the online application and was approved. 1st hike is tomorrow Sand Stone peak in the Santa Monica Mountains...

  • Wayne Moore late again on updating. yesterday was ok, did my first work out alone. was an upper body day. missed having my buddy brian with me. found it a little harder to push without a spotter.... still got a good workout in...

  • Wayne Moore today was supposed to be my first hike with the new group i joined. baught some new hiking shoes and exuipment. todays hike is postponed till next weekend. going over on friday with my new friend alan from the group. staying till sunday. got a late start today, drove to walker basin to visit my cousin joan. still havnt got my cardio in. gona hit the gym on my way home. gona do the alyptical again. feeling sluggish today, had some personal stuff happen this week that through me off my ruitine. gona push through today, look forward to tomarrow, its cheat day. get back in a routine monday.

  • Wayne Moore done with the cardio, did the alyptical again. Liking the alyptical, no too jarring on my body, which running does right now with the big belly, doesnt hurt my butt, the bike, and I can easily reach the directed intensity levels each minute instructed...

  • Wayne Moore Ok today is my cheat day. I almost have to force myself to cheat a little. Its what the book says to do. I bought a bad of chips, didnt taste that good at all. Had some frys with my sandwhich at lunch, made me feel yucky...Tomorrow, weight in...

  • Wayne Moore Ok week 1 lost 5 pounds. Twice the weight of what I set my goal. Keep up this pace, be there in 6 months, not 1 year. End goal is the lost 10 lbs a month for 12 months, hike into French Lake (2 day hike), and catch the world record golden trout. Today felt out of whack mentally from the moment I woke up, but don't we all have those days? I know what I need to do to get back on track, so I could do that, or go back to my old ways. I choose get back on track!!!! Sorry again Brian Parks for the things I said today, i'm not sure why i'm still holding on to stuff, its in the past now, nothing I can do about the past, nothing I can do about tommorow, thats the way I have been living life lately, and today I lost that somehow.Still have a lot of work to do. Did lower body today, got my sweat on. Tomorrow is cardio, back to the reutine.

  • Wayne Moore Much better day today. Was a cardio day. Tried the stair master this time. Was an intense 20 minutes. Having trouble keeping up with the meals. In order to eat 6 meals a day, you really have to plan it out....Maybe get a better phone with a good alarm system, time to eat....

  • Wayne Moore Great workout today, was upper body, feeling much stronger, and this is only my 3rd upper body...Arms are getting firm. xxl shirts fit again, was wearing xxxl, ug no more....Meal lined up better today as well, hit my marks...3 day camping trip this weekend in Cambria, should be my 1st test, gona pack a bunch of meals in the AM....

  • Wayne Moore Found out last 2 of my teeth needed to be pulled, one wisdom, and it needed to come out soon. Had it pulled this morning, I don't remember the procedure. What ever he gave me it knocked me out today, not sure if im gona get anything in today. I just woke up and its 5 pm

  • Wayne Moore Seth, in the program you get one cheat day, and it wants you to cheat. 1 It gives you something to look forward to 2. It keeps helps keep your body from going into starvation mode... 3. when you feel like crap after eating it, it reminds you the ole way. Body for life realizes that life happens, you may have a wedding, a party, have two teeth pulled at cant eat anything sollid, in my case...so i stitched sunday to thursday this week...

I have always said to others who influence my life, that i want to be living life well because there are so many who love me and depend on me for a variety of things, and we should not be careless with life nor our health.   • Wayne Moore Ok, been gone to Cambria, havn't been able to update. Got up early Friday and did a lower body at the 24 hour on Coffee. Much better equipment over there, just a farther drive. Have 6 meals prepped for Sat and Sun, plus a couple of shakes...

  • Wayne Moore Saturday, didn't do a body for life style workout, did however hike 8 miles, I think I will be ok. Purchased a pedometer at Wal Mart, the store had it labeled incorrectly, so I got it for $5.00. Its pretty close to accurate, bad thing is it resets itself easy if you hit the wrong button. Got approximatly 16,000 steps in on Saturdays hike. Did okish on the diet, had a couple of cheats. Had the campfire, really wanted to bbque something, so I had 3 suasages, and some baked chips, guess thats not too bad. It's hard to stay on track when your out of town. Ate at a couple of restraunts, was able to order off the menu's in a healthy way...Ready to get back to normal...

  • Wayne Moore Very good day today!!! Weigh in day, was nurvious about it, had a good week, just wasn't sure. Lost 8 pounds!!!! Very very happy with that, excited to continue on...My old shirts are starting to fit, and man, I just started. Had upper body today, been doing some experimenting off of Brian Parks reutine and have found a couple of excersizes of my own I really like. Never been a big weight guy, I really like the fact I have a scheduled agenda, I do it, and thats that. No more no less, really works for a guy like me, who has one of those running, doubting, beat myself up minds. Also like using the hikes instead of the gym cardio, like the book says good to be our in nature...

  • Wayne Moore Opps forgot to update for Tuesday. It was a cardio day, went back the the olyptical. Was a great workout, for the first time I feel like I hit on my marks, and was able to hold the 10 for a full minute...Could have done even more after. Its not getting easier, still have to hi the exersion marks, but its becoming more and more enjoyable. When i'm done I don't feel like im going to die...

  • Wayne Moore Now today, woke up this morning all out of wack, and didn't know what the problem was. Started my day as usual, went to mom and dads, prepped my daily meals. Went to a meeting, but didn't want to be there. Left early and drove right by the gym. It was sleep, I was tired!!! I know it sounds weird, but a guy in my situation isn't used to being tired in that way. So it wasn't something I recognized emediatly. I finally made it home, my head hit the pillow and I was out. Slept sound for 5 hours, is what I needed. Woke up feeling a ton better, went to pool league in a good mood, that ready to take on the world mood I have been in lately. I just need to be mindful, not panick when I get that way, get some rest. After pool hit the gym for a late workout. Did lower body, best lower body I have had so far. I found a great way to work my calves. I remembered as a kid in elementry withSabine Mixon...She used to have us going up the stair, 10 lifts per step. I remember then how much it hurt. So I tried it again, and oh man did I get a burn. I hit my 10 on step 6.... I think next time I will try and incorperate the 12 10 8 6 12 12 with the steps. There are 12 steps, perfect for this. This time I did 10 each step, that definatly worked too. Tomorrow is cardio, gona try the real stair climber, should kick my butt. Then Saturday doing a 5 mile hike with Hiking Man up near Mt Pino's, near Frazier Mt. Anyone want to go, let me know....

  • Wayne Moore Back on track for the food today. Did some food shopping, lots of cooking. Starting to like that stuff, weird. Work out was good. Did it on the treadmill for the 1st time. Used incline to increase intensity. Was at max incline on minute 19 with the treadmill at a 4.0. Definatly reached a 10 intensity. Tomorrow upper body...

  • Ronald Moore ok this is Wayne, logged in on my dads acct but accident, was hard to find this post, dont want to relog in and try and find it again. Ok upper body day was good on Friday....Nothing major to report this day. Did pretty well on my food...

  • Ronald Moore OK yesterday, Saturday cardio day. Decided to go for a hike instead of the 20 minute daily cardio. Went with my friend Alan and Tom to Mt Pinos near Frazier Mountain. It was the most intense hike I have been on in years, since the days of fighting fire. We made it to the top of two peaks. At the top of the 2nd there was a great rock pile. Over the years everyone that made it to the top puts a rock in with the rest, there is also a sign in sheet where you can wright your name and your thoughts. There we some prayer flags from Nepaul strung from the top. The view was incredible. Take a look at my pictures...Got emotional for a moment, thought about where I was 3 months ago, phylically, emotionaly, and spiratually. God was with me at that moment...The hike was 7.5 miles, climbed 3000 feet in elevation, took 6.5 hours with short breaks, and a long break at the top. Can tell you that thanks to my new phone...Today, going to try at eat better, get some rest, very tired, and get back to it on Monday...Monday is weigh in DAY!!!

  • Wayne Moore Sunday was an off day, didn't do much yesterday. Today is weigh in day. Lost 3 pounds this week. Not going to lie was hoping for a 5 or 6. All the excuses ran through my head, your retaining water, you gained musle, scale must be off, take keys out of pocket, weighed in too late in the day, every exuse in the book. Excuses are reasons to quit, so im not gona use them. Did all my workouts and more this week. I need to get more focused on my eating and drinking. 1st thing, the body for life book says to drink lots of water, I havn't...Gona work on that. 2nd eat 6 meals aday, one lean protein, one healthy carb, and one vegie in each meal. For one thing, I am not eating on schedule, which makes me hungry, and I grab something I shouldn't. Today for example, got a late start, im not a morning person, ate breakfast around 11. Went about my day didn't get to eat my 2nd meal till 4 pm. That should have been my 3rd meal. And my cheat day has turned into (in my head) ill have a little cheat everyday, not stick to the plan and have one day a week. So, here is what I am going to do. I am going to make use of this new I phone. It has a great schedule reminder deal. Gona try and hit my meals close to the same time every day, and I am going to use my phone to remind me. Very easy to loose track of time when you have a lot of stuff going on. Like the book says, you will not be perfect, but I can improve, and I think that showed in the scale this week. Another thing the book suggests is to make goals. So, I am making a weekly goal. Next week lose 6 lbs. Going to vegas friday-sun, when I put that six, I was tempted to put 5, because of my trip. Look, another excuse, not going to happen. The hotel we are staying at has a gym and pool. Plus, how bout a long walk on the strip, that acctually sounds like fun!!! Looking forward to a clear headed trip to vegas, not coming home broke and feeling like $&!#...Anyhow, lost 3 pounds, still good. Got back into reutine, today was lower body, got a good workout in. Legs were screeming when done. Found a really good way to work calves, and if you want a good hamstring workout and don't belong to a gym, try lunges, those really hurt when you weigth 319 lbs. One of the lady' at checkin has been following my progress. She talked to her boss, they are thinking of making me a rep for a 24 fitness success story. More reason to keep going!!!
